At CTRL-S, we are deeply committed to developing the next generation of IT professionals through our IT apprenticeship training programme.
Most of our team began their journeys with us as apprentices, continuing their employment long-term, thanks to our supportive and growth-oriented environment. With a high retention rate, our apprenticeship and development model stands as a testament to our commitment to career development and employee wellness.
Our commitment to apprenticeships is evident throughout our team. For example, Joe and Chris are advancing through their current apprenticeships, whilst several of our senior team members, including Technical Director Matt, Chief Technologist Jamie, and Chief Data Analyst Paul, have completed their apprenticeship programmes. Our new apprentice will follow in their footsteps as they embark on a Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification. This programme, along with others we’ve supported, plays a crucial role in building the expertise and confidence needed to excel in the IT industry.
Introducing Our New Apprentice: Marcus
We are thrilled to introduce our newest apprentice, Marcus, who will be joining us in August. Marcus brings a fresh perspective and a keen interest in being an IT support technician and we are excited to support their journey into the IT industry.
About Marcus:
Background:
“I studied IT with an extended diploma in IT at college, which I really enjoyed and inspired me to pursue IT as a career. Before my role at CTRL-S, I was briefly a technical engineer however I desired a more varied role which is why I have chosen to complete an apprenticeship with CTRL-S and gain a wide range of skills whilst working in the IT industry.”
Interests:
“I have always enjoyed technology and gaming, which influenced me to gravitate towards a career in IT, with a specific interest in hardware and IT infrastructure. Away from the screen, I enjoy playing lots of sports, especially football and basketball.”
Goals:
“I aspire to increase my technical knowledge and experience to be able to independently fix technical issues. I also aspire to gain the customer service experience to be able to support our clients and exceed their expectations.
Why Apprenticeships Matter:
Apprenticeships are vital for the IT industry, providing a pathway for young talent to gain practical experience and skills. It was reported that in the 2022/23 academic year, there were 752,150 people participating in apprenticeships in England, with 337,140 apprenticeship starts and 162,320 achievements. At CTRL-S, we are also committed to increasing the representation of women in Tech, led by our very own Managing Director, Lyndsey Hayes. Currently, women make up around 17% of IT professionals in the UK, and we are proud to support and encourage more women to pursue careers in this field through apprenticeship programmes.
Looking Ahead:
As Marcus embarks on this new exciting journey with the CTRL-S team, we are confident that they will make a significant impact on our team and our clients. Stay tuned for updates on Marcus’ progress and contributions to CTRL-S.
